I am questioning what is considered reality by our society. How often do we do something just because it is expected?

Listen to subtle messages from any source
I came across a really interesting book recently, by Arnold Mindell 'The Quantum Mind and Healing'. A chance event last week made someone recommend Arnold Mindell and this was the only book held by my local library. I have just ordered another one by him.
His basic conclusion is covered on this site, but goes deeper.
I am beginning to realise that as awareness grows through an understanding of silence, then we can access very subtle messages in others and in the world. The sections in the ebook on Body Focusing (§8 and §31) go into this. read these if you haven't already done so, and do the suggested exercises.
Arnold Mindell suggests taking this a step further and finding the subtle messages in dreams or body pains or others' pain by getting a subtle 'felt sense' and feeling what it is saying.
My wife said straight away that women do this but not normally in open conversation as people think you are mad.
As an example, when speaking to someone who is talking about an upset you might get a feeling from that person of a hurt child. Don't ignore such subtle messages as it is likely to be the message behind the story.
Basically, I am suggesting staying open to subliminal messages and not shutting them down. I suppose this is quite a challenging idea, but what Arnold calls Consensus Reality means that we close down all the alternatives which are not 'mainstream'. My addition to this is that we are called 'mad' or 'mentally ill' if we leave consensus reality, when in fact it can be more real than what we call reality.
