Just think! If our minds can trick our eyes then how much deeper is the trickery?
Why does it take something to happen from outside ourselves to make us begin to change? (Often an illness or other traumatic event) see §35 in the book.
Are we so much on 'automatic pilot' or unconscious in our decisions? The more I become aware the more I see how often habit rules what I do.
I will think more about this in future weeks.
When I was working I made up every reason possible why I must continue. It was only a warning that made me stop. In the clear light stopping was the only option which made sense and yet I could not see it.
How many people do I know who have waited to be ill before realising what they had to do? Are we so brainwashed that we don't see clearly?
My book talks a lot about 'body knowledge', and its key point may be to listen to body and acknowledge it.
How many times have I known exactly what I should do, but ignored it? In my book I say that sometimes none of the activities work. This may not be true. I do know what will work but I will not acknowledge it, or it doesn't 'catch my thoughts'.
The two things which work best for me are writing (viz. the book and my poems) and dancing, and yet over the last six months I have neither written to my journal or put my favourite Queen songs on.
